Are You a Silva Graduate with Children? Here’s How to Use Silva Techniques at Home.

As a Silva graduate, you’re well aware of the transformative power of positive language on the subconscious mind. This isn’t just a benefit for you; it’s crucial for your children too. Everything they hear, whether it’s from parents, teachers, or friends, is absorbed into their subconscious,
shaping their self-beliefs and behaviours. Positive language functions like a beneficial programme, nurturing self-assurance and motivating children to take positive action. Conversely, negative language can act like a virus, gradually undermining confidence and instilling limiting beliefs that could hinder their self-image for years to come.

Consider the difference between saying, “You’re doing brilliantly, keep going!” and “You’re always so clumsy.” The former instils a belief in their ability to improve and succeed, fostering resilience and determination. The latter, however, can chip away at their self-esteem, making them reluctant to try new things out of fear of failure. Many of us carry such limiting beliefs into adulthood, impacting our personal development and growth.

As children navigate the complex world of emotions, developing the ability to manage feelings like anger, frustration, and anxiety is essential for their overall wellbeing. In the Silva Youth Lecture Series (YLS), children are introduced to the Three Fingers Technique, a simple yet effective method for entering a calm and focused state whenever needed. This technique empowers them to handle stressful situations with composure, rather than reacting impulsively.

At home, there are numerous opportunities to incorporate these techniques into your family’s routine. Your children are more likely to embrace these practices if they see you engaging in meditation and visualisation yourself. For example, if your child is feeling anxious before a
school test or overwhelmed by a challenging situation, gently remind them to use the Three Fingers Technique to help them relax and concentrate. You could also engage in visualisation exercises together before a sports event or important performance, enabling them to mentally rehearse success and boost their confidence.

By integrating Silva techniques into everyday life, you not only equip your children with invaluable tools for emotional regulation but also instil in them a sense of personal empowerment that will serve them well throughout their lives.
